was educated at Birmingham University, Elizabeth spent her early career as a lecturer and community worker before becoming chief executive of the National Association of Citizens Advice Bureau. In 1988 she became Deputy Chief Executive of the London Docklands Development Corporation, a post she held until 1992. In 1993 she was appointed Adjudicator for the Inland Revenue, following it up with the same role for the Customs & Excise and subsequently to the DSS Contributions Agency in the UK and Northern Ireland. In 1999, Ms Filkin became Parliamentary Standards Commissioner, a role she held until 2002. |
