Balancing responsible corporate behaviour against commercial imperatives is a constant challenge. Jarvis has already established clear environmental policies and continues to work on implementing these across its entire business and supply chain. Spreading best practice
All Jarvis core businesses have now been certified to ISO 14002:2004 demonstrating the Group’s commitment to high environmental standards, compliance with legislation and our aspiration for continued improvement. For the third year running Jarvis Rail’s Environmental Management System for all its functions regained ISO 14001 certification The plant business contributed towards the standard by identifying the level of CO² emissions from Jarvis company cars and commercial vehicles and reducing the level of emissions. The Group focuses on a number of key performance indicators (KPIs) for environmental management, particularly: - reducing emissions of greenhouse gases now and planning for further reductions
- assessing the environmental impact of the Company’s business activities, setting targets and producing reports
- greater energy and resource efficiency
- moving away from disposing of waste towards waste minimisation, recycling and recovery.
Within each of these areas, there are specific targets and indicators against which the Company measures its performance. Jarvis has been working with The Carbon Trust to reduce energy usage as much as possible, whilst improving our working environment and making the company more energy efficient. Jarvis headquarters in York have been awarded "Carbon Neutral" status. Find out more
